金沢城公園(石川門)

Standing opposite Kenroku-en Garden, it serves as a symbol of the castle town of Kanazawa. It is a castle gate built in the irimoya-style, and its name derives from its location facing Ishikawa District. The entrance is separated by an iron gate; the interior is a masugata-style gate enclosed by stone walls, and the structure consists of a two-story diamond-shaped turret combined with a multi-arched gate. In the early Meiji period, almost all of the structures within the castle grounds were destroyed by fire, leaving only the Ishikawa Gate standing. However, in September 2001 (Heisei 13), the historic structures—including the diamond-shaped turret and the turret connected to the Hashizume Gate—were restored as examples of traditional wooden castle architecture, and the surrounding area was developed into an urban park.
